Halong Bay, the old quarters and food you would not find on your own.
Vietnam is long, and that length is the plan. The country runs more than a thousand kilometres from the old quarter of Hanoi in the north to the delta in the south, and the food, the weather and the pace all change as you move down it. In the north the draw is water and limestone: Halong Bay and the quieter bays beside it, seen properly with a night on board instead of a day boat that turns around after lunch. The centre holds Hue and Hoi An, lantern light, tailors and a coastline that is easy to slow down on. The south is Ho Chi Minh City, faster and newer, with the delta a couple of hours beyond it. We plan Vietnam with internal flights so the road time stays short, and with guides who take you to the tables you would never find alone.

Your planner confirms the current entry and document requirements for your passport before anything is booked, and checks them again close to departure. We work from what applies to your travel window, never from what was true last year.
North to south is comfortable in about two weeks with internal flights. In eight to ten days we would choose one half of the country and travel it properly rather than collect airports.
We think so. Staying on the water gives you the bay early and late, in the hours when the day boats are not there, and those two hours are the part people remember.
